Ballet 1

This introductory course will teach dancers the fundamentals of ballet technique, including but not limited to the learning 1st through 5th positions at the barre, demi plie', grand plie', eleve', releve', grand jete', tendue, chaine' & more.  Students will work on the barre and begin to incorporate these movements going across the floor.  This class introduces the genre of ballet and its discipline.  Ballet is the base of all dance and this type of  training will improve any dancer in any genre.

Ballet 2

  Minimum of 2 years experience in a beginning ballet class or upon approval by the dance instructor.  In Ballet 2, dancers continue working on movements learned in ballet 1 & move on to other movements such as  coupe', rond de jambe, developpe', fouettes, pique', a la seconde and more.  In Ballet 2, barre work continues and movements learned there are then taken to the center of the floor for floor work and incorporating these movements into choreography. 

Ballet 3/4

  Advanced ballet instruction MUST HAVE APPROVAL FROM INSTRUCTOR TO BE PLACED IN THESE CLASSES. 



Jazz 1

  This introductory course will teach dancers the fundamentals of jazz technique, including but not limited to pirouettes, basic leaps, chaines, pique turns, battements, and jazz walks. This class will also focus on techniques to improve flexibility, musicality, and performance quality. Dancers should have a basic understanding of ballet technique and it is recommended that they take both, ballet & jazz classes simultaneously.  

Jazz 2

  Minimum of 2 years experience in a beginning level jazz class or upon approval by dance instructor.  Dancers should have a strong background in ballet and it’s recommended that they take a ballet 2 and a turns and leaps class simultaneously. Level 2 will focus on expanding the vocabulary taught in level 1 and start to teach more advanced technical skills. 




Jazz 3/4

      

Advanced jazz instruction MUST HAVE APPROVAL FROM INSTRUCTOR TO BE PLACED IN THESE CLASSES. Preparation for professional level dancers. 

Lyrical 1/Contemporary 1

Lyrical 1/Contemporary 1  is a choreography class in which students need to have a general command/understanding of basic ballet & jazz terminology.  This is a class for beginners.  This class will help dancers learn how to emote feelings in their dance & tell a story.    

Lyrical dance is a fusion of ballet and jazz dance techniques.  A lyrical dancer's movements attempt to show the meaning of the music. Lyrical jazz is a very passionate and emotional dance style that tells a story through every movement.

Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet.  Contemporary dance is movement based & stresses versatility and improvisation. 

Lyrical 2, 3 & 4

Minimum of 2 years experience in a beginning level jazz  & ballet class or upon approval by dance instructor.  Dancers should have a strong background in ballet and it’s recommended that they take a ballet 2, jazz 2  and a turns and leaps class simultaneously.  Choreography in lyrical 2 is more advanced and dancers continue to grow in their dance emotionally.  


Lyrical 3 & 4  MUST HAVE APPROVAL FROM INSTRUCTOR TO BE PLACED IN  CLASS. Preparation for professional level dancers. 

Turns/Leaps 2

  This class focuses on the technique and proper execution of leaping, jumping, and turning by teaching a series of movements, while going  across the floor, and in center floor. Dancers must have at least 1-2  years of  ballet 1 and jazz 1 to enter into this class & have ballet/jazz vocabulary.   

Turns/Leaps 3 & 4

This class focuses on the technique and proper execution of leaping, jumping, and turning by teaching a series of movements, while going  across the floor, and in center floor. Dancers must have at least 3-4  years of  ballet  and jazz  to enter into this class & have ballet/jazz extensive vocabulary.   

MUST HAVE APPROVAL FROM INSTRUCTOR TO BE PLACED IN  CLASS. 

Preparation for professional level dancers. 




Choreography 1-4

This class focuses on helping the dancer developing their free style and training them to adapt to new  choreography.  Combos genres include: jazz, contemporary & lyrical.  Combos change approximately every weeks.


Choreography 2, 3 & 4  MUST HAVE APPROVAL FROM INSTRUCTOR TO BE PLACED IN  CLASS. 





Tap 1, 2/3

A style of dance performed wearing shoes fitted with metal taps, characterized by rhythmical tapping of the toes & heals.  

Class begins with a warm up and basic tap technique is taught by going across the floor, time steps & tap choreography.  

Tap 2/ 3  MUST HAVE APPROVAL FROM INSTRUCTOR TO BE PLACED IN  CLASS. 


Hip Hop

Hip-hop is a  choreography class, some class time is spent on going across the floor on free style and specific hip hop movement.

Hip Hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture. 





Acro/Tumbling 1-4

Each tumbling class begins with a warm up & wrist/ankle & back stretches.  Students work on going across the floor on mats, working on the following techniques: cartwheels, handstands, handstand forward roll, handstand pops, front limbers, back limbers, back walkover, front walk over, running hurdle cartwheel, running hurtle round off, aerials & front handspring.  Students are broken into stations working drills for specific skills.  students are also conditioned and strengthened to learn harder skills.

Acro 2, 3 & 4 MUST HAVE APPROVAL FROM INSTRUCTOR TO BE PLACED IN  CLASS. 



Adapted Dance

Adapted dance class is designed for students who have either developmental &/or physical limitations.  Class structure is taught at a relaxed pace and the instructor focuses on basic dance movement in jazz, tap & hip hop.  Dancers enrolled in this class are required to have jazz, tap & tennis shoes.   

This class participates in a informal holiday show at the studio in December, and an end of year recital at a local venue in June. 

Mommy & Me

Mommy & Me is designed for little ones 

ages 18 months-3yrs.  Moms (Dads, grandmas, etc..) move with their toddler  to age appropriate music.  Basic dance movement, dance technique & tumbling is introduced.  This class participates in a informal holiday show at the studio in December, and an end of year recital at a local venue in June.

Class is 45 minutes.




3's and 4's

3's and 4's is perfect for the dancer who is mature & ready to be in a more traditional style dance class.  Class is taken without parent in the room and dancers must be potty trained.  Basic ballet, tap and jazz technique are taught and introduced.  This class participates in a informal holiday show at the studio in December, and an end of year recital at a local venue in June.

Ballet and Tap Shoes Are Required.  

Class is 1 hour in duration.

Combo Class

This class is designed for dancers ages 3-5 years.  Requirements for this class are that all dancers must be potty trained & be able to take class in a classroom without a parent.  The class covers basic, ballet, jazz & tap technique and is taught in a manner geared towards little ones.  This class participates in a informal holiday show at the studio in December, and an end of year recital at a local venue in June.

Ballet and Tap Shoes Are Required.

Class is 1 hour in duration.

Holiday Performance

Every December, the studio puts on an informal holiday performance the last week before we break for the holidays.  Each class, (except acro/tumbling, choreography and turns/leaps)  performs a brief holiday combo.  Performances take place at our studio, they are FREE and there is no purchase of costumes.  Family and friends are welcome!  TBA

Recital

Every June, our studio has a formal recital at an offsite venue. Dancers who participate in recital pay a registration fee and purchase a costumes for their dances.   One class from each genre performs at recital, (except acro/tumbling, choreography and turns/leaps).  We like to keep at least one jazz and ballet class open to maintain training and continue technical growth during this time frame.  

Recital takes place in June.
