This introductory course will teach dancers the fundamentals of ballet technique, including but not limited to the learning 1st through 5th positions at the barre, demi plie', grand plie', eleve', releve', grand jete', tendue, chaine' & more. Students will work on the barre and begin to incorporate these movements going across the floor. This class introduces the genre of ballet and its discipline. Ballet is the base of all dance and this type of training will improve any dancer in any genre.
Minimum of 2 years experience in a beginning ballet class or upon approval by the dance instructor. In Ballet 2, dancers continue working on movements learned in ballet 1 & move on to other movements such as coupe', rond de jambe, developpe', fouettes, pique', a la seconde and more. In Ballet 2, barre work continues and movements learned there are then taken to the center of the floor for floor work and incorporating these movements into choreography.
Advanced ballet instruction MUST HAVE APPROVAL FROM INSTRUCTOR TO BE PLACED IN THESE CLASSES.
This introductory course will teach dancers the fundamentals of jazz technique, including but not limited to pirouettes, basic leaps, chaines, pique turns, battements, and jazz walks. This class will also focus on techniques to improve flexibility, musicality, and performance quality. Dancers should have a basic understanding of ballet technique and it is recommended that they take both, ballet & jazz classes simultaneously.
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a beginning level jazz class or upon approval by dance instructor. Dancers should have a strong background in ballet and it’s recommended that they take a ballet 2 and a turns and leaps class simultaneously. Level 2 will focus on expanding the vocabulary taught in level 1 and start to teach more advanced technical skills.
Advanced jazz instruction MUST HAVE APPROVAL FROM INSTRUCTOR TO BE PLACED IN THESE CLASSES. Preparation for professional level dancers.
Lyrical & Contemporary classes are choreography classes in which students need to have a general command/understanding of basic ballet & jazz terminology.
Lyrical dance is a fusion of ballet and jazz dance techniques. A lyrical dancer's movements attempt to show the meaning of the music. Lyrical jazz is a very passionate and emotional dance style that tells a story through every movement.
Contemporary dance is a style of expressive dance that combines elements of several dance genres including modern, jazz, lyrical and classical ballet. Contemporary dance is movement based & stresses versatility and improvisation.
Hip-hop is a choreography class, some class time is spent on going across the floor on free style and specific hip hop movement.
Hip Hop dance refers to street dance styles primarily performed to hip-hop music or that have evolved as part of hip-hop culture.
This class focuses on the technique and proper execution of leaping, jumping, and turning by teaching a series of movements, while going across the floor, and in center floor. Dancers must have at least one year of beginning ballet and jazz 1 to enter into this class.
Each tumbling class begins with a warm up & wrist/ankle & back stretches. Students work on going across the floor on mats, working on the following techniques: cartwheels, handstands, handstand forward roll, handstand pops, front limbers, back limbers, back walkover, front walk over, running hurdle cartwheel, running hurtle round off, aerials & front handspring. Students are broken into stations working drills for specific skills. students are also conditioned and strengthened to learn harder skills.
